Air pollution and thrombosis: an experimental approach.

چکیده
Air pollution is associated with cardiovascular mortality. Inhaled ultrafine particles translocate into the blood. Amine-polystyrene ultrafine particles significantly enhance experimental thrombus formation in a damaged hamster vessel and shorten the closure time in the Platelet Function Analyser. Diesel exhaust particles are thrombogenic within one hour of intratracheal instillation and shorten the closure time ex vivo. These experimental observations provide a plausible biological explanation for the epidemiologically established link between air pollution and acute myocardial infarction.

An Innovative Method to Allocate Air-Pollution-Related Taxes, Using Aermod Modeling (case study: Besat Power Plant).
The present study applies the model of American Meteorological Society-Environmental Protection Agency Regulatory Model (AERMOD) to investigate NO2 emissions from Besat thermal power plant, which is fuelled by natural gas to function. Results indicate that the simulated concentration of NO2 based on AERMOD, does not exceed NO2 concentration limit, set by the Iranian Ambient Air Quality Standard...
متن کاملUrban planning, urban Management & Urban Air Pollution and solutions for solving it
In response to the facts that some Asian developing countries were experiencing the fastest rate of industrialisation and urbanisation, several international initiatives called for a better and ‘sustainable’ urban management. Development of management tools including strategic environmental assessment (SEA), life cycle assessment (LCA), cost benefit analysis (CBA), and environmental managemen...

متن کاملAir pollution and venous thrombosis: a meta-analysis
Exposure to air pollution has been linked to cardiovascular and respiratory disorders. However, the effect of air pollution on venous thrombotic disorders is uncertain. We performed a meta-analysis to assess the association between air pollution and venous thrombosis. PubMed, Embase, EBM Reviews, Healthstar, Global Health, Nursing Database, and Web of Science were searched for citations on air ...
متن کاملThe expanding role of air pollution in cardiovascular disease: does air pollution contribute to risk of deep vein thrombosis?
Scientific efforts to understand the health effects of air pollution and public policy efforts to control air pollution have a fascinating history. The early “killer smog” episodes in Meuse Valley, Belgium (1930), Donora, Pa (1948), and London, UK (1952) provided stark evidence of deleterious respiratory and cardiovascular health effects of severe air pollution exposure. This evidence motivated...
